New for Mop Top Summer Camp 2011! Robotics, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), all new... and much, much, more at the Mop Top Shop Summer Science & Technology Camp 2011! Camp 2010 was fantastic, but you won't want to miss our upcoming 2011 summer camp. Filled with lots of hands-on learning and fun activities using science and technology, the Mop Top Summer Science & Technology Camp 2011 is the place to be!

Kids learn robotics, GPS, and GIS technologies through building and programming robots; navigation, and mapmaking activities and hands-on training using Lego Mindstorms NXT, GPS units, and more. Also, new for Camp 2011, Biz Whiz!...Entrepreneurship. Have you ever considered owning your own business?... and don't forget our other exciting hands-on learning activities. Students will build computers that really work (they will also have to put them back together); learn the basics of web page design and publishing to design their own web pages incorporating sound and video; create basic animations and cartoons, illustrate and create artwork that they silkscreen on t-shirts. But that's not all, students become real crime scene investigators and use hands-on activities to understand forensics. To stay fit, a personal trainer will provide fun and excitement while teaching students about nutrition, wellness, fitness, and the benefits of exercise. Oh! and let's not forget, kids learn how to give effective presentations, hone their public speaking skills as well as acquire skills for dining and business, with Raleigh's House of Etiquette classes during summer camp. Our campers even get to dress up and dine in one of the Triangle's exclusive restaurants to practice their newly acquired skills in etiquette...but that's not all!

Mop Top Campers learn basic HTML, a text editor used to design and create web sites as well as a graphic editor program to create websites (Adobe Dreamweaver); photo-editing software (Adobe Photoshop), an application used by professionals for photo-editing and design; animation with Adobe Flash, for basic animation and Adobe Premiere for video editing. All sessions are presented by professionals and instructors from nearby colleges and universities.

At the End-of-Camp Finale Celebration, students present final projects that incorporates what they learned during the Mop Top Shop Summer Science & Technology Camp 2011. (See 2010 Summer Camp Projects). Click on the thumbnails to view the Flash animations.
